And calling a mom who literally shielded her baby with body, trying to protect her child from attacking bikers.... a “dumb bitch”. Comments: Where everything good in this world goes to die.

Really? Attacking a family with a baby? That’s the most fucked up thing I have ever heard.
They should use nunchuks, switchblades, or extortion like everyone else.

I remember when the story first came out I figured if I was in the same position I would have done it differently. I would have tried to run over all of them. Maybe open my doors at speed and brake check as many as I can.

I didn’t see any defending of the bikers going on. I saw criticism of the people who picked a fight with a large group of bikers and lost. Even with an event like this, there’s spin. It’s not like it was random. No one likes mentioning him and his wife throwing things at them and repeatedly trying to drive through the crowd of bikers because then it’s not as sensational of a story. There’s a time to just let the squids be assholes and hope that evolution kicks in.

This is why we need 600hp RWD cars, to protect ourselves from marauding bikers trying to kill us and our families.
they should make a movie about this!

Yeah, babies are just way to soft and squishy to be an effective weapon.

I see Gawker comments are giving YouTube a run for their money in pure shittiness.

It’d probably be more interesting if it was set in some desert wasteland type environment instead of a New York freeway though.

As long as there is a dog.

No, the balance on a baby is near perfect, just swing it from the legs. Throwing it is a gamble because it can be used against you.

Well, they did kind of start throwing things at the bikers and tried driving through the crowd of them instead of just letting idiot squids be idiot squids. Not defending the squids (the linked comment isn’t either), but they really did put themselves into the situation they ended up in.

I’m surprised one of those chuckleheads hasn’t tried blaming the whole thing on the Republicans yet.
(Still better than YouTube comments.)

From my understanding, the stuff they threw was because they were being harassed (and throwing stuff was a terrible choice. A desperate choice, but a bad one). As for driving through, it was less “fsck it, I’m mowing down these bikers” and more “they have me cornered and are threatening me, I’m going to try to get through and escape”. I haven’t watched the original video in a while, but my recollection is that the “throwing things” bit was a terrible choice and escalated things, and the “driving over that guy” choice was — and I hate to say it — a reasonable choice under unreasonable circumstances. And saying that, I’m not saying that I think the driver said “Ha, ha. I will mow this guy down”. I think it was more “I’m close to getting killed and my escape route is being blocked by a guy who is part of the group that is trying to kill me. If it’s him or me, the guy who is part of the group attacking me is going down”

Call it “Mad Mark” or something like that.

The throwing things and driving into the crowd was before they were surrounded and cornered. From his testimony as a witness:
One motorcyclist tried to block other cars from going north to allow the bikes to pass, but Lien said he was “annoyed” and wanted to get on with his day, so he kept driving. As the bikes whizzed by, his wife tossed a half-eaten plum and later a water bottle at the bikers, he said.
He was upset he was delayed, then tried to get involved. He wasn’t being harassed before, just inconvenienced.

OK, I thought you were talking about where he drove over the biker, the one who got paralyzed. That action did sound like an “I’m going to die if I stay here” thing.
